About Us

Dog Training for Columbus, GA Families

Columbus K9 Academy is run by dog trainers who have called Columbus,

Georgia home for most of their lives. With over 20 years of combined professional experience, we help everyday dogs become calm, reliable companions, and we help owners understand their dogs better.

We serve Columbus and nearby communities including Fort Benning (formerly Fort Moore), Phenix City, Midland, Fortson, Hamilton, Cataula and Smiths Station.

We use a balanced training approach that pairs positive reinforcement with fair, consistent guidance, and we build a training plan around your dog and your goals.

Lessons

Basic Lesson Package

Basic and Advanced Lesson Package

Four one-hour private sessions, plus a collar and training lead. We build the foundation: recall and sit, holding a place, heel, and down. Each lesson is hands-on with you and your dog, so you leave knowing how to ask for the command and how to reward it.

This pack is for owners who want reliable everyday manners without a long program. By the last session you should have a dog that comes when called, sits instead of jumping, walks beside you, and holds a down until released. The goal is a clearer line of communication and a calmer dog at home and in public.

Basic and Advanced Lesson Package

Eight private lessons covering the basics and the next level, plus an e-collar and training lead. We start with recall, sit, place, heel, and down, then move into stronger reliability around distractions so the same commands hold when the environment gets harder.

This is the package for owners who want more than a starter set of cues. Extra sessions give time to proof the work, introduce the e-collar as a clear communication tool, and tighten leash manners and impulse control. You get the equipment and the coaching to keep the training going after the last lesson.

2 Week Board and Train

Basic and Advanced Lesson Package

2 Week Board and Train

Your dog lives with the trainer for two weeks and trains inside a normal daily routine, not in a kennel block. The focus is distraction-proof off-leash recall, place, down, heel, and “off,” plus leash manners, car manners, and stopping jumping.

At pickup you get a training report and a one-on-one handoff session so the same commands work with you. Unlimited refreshers are included for the life of the dog. It is built for busy owners who want real results in a short window and a clear plan for keeping them.
